JCarver

Jason "JCarver" Somerville is a 21 year old poker professional from Long Island, New York. Starting out in high school playing in local games with friends, Jason quickly fell in love with the game. Soon afterwards, believing that experience was the final key to success, he turned to his only real choice at that age - internet poker. He sought after any source of information he could to improve and learn more, becoming a true student of the game. Initially, Jason started grinding out small sums of money in freeroll tournaments, similar to fellow VT Pro Annette Obrestad. Eventually, his perseverance and hard work paid off, as Jason won a whopping $5 in a freeroll and took it to the nickel/dime cash tables - and never looked back. Over the next few years, Jason rocketed through the limits and beat some of the highest stakes spread at the time.

Although Jason had experienced success in online cash games, he knew that he also wanted to be a proficient live tournament player. In 2007, his 21st birthday only a year away, Jason started to focus on tournaments - figuring the transition to live MTTs would be made much easier with a strong online background. It didn't take long for him to do extraordinarily well yet again - this time, in the arena of high stakes online tournaments. In 2007 alone, he won the Ultimate Bet Sunday twice, made the Full Tilt Sunday final table 3 times (with 2 wins), had his TV debut at a televised final table with fellow VT Pro Adam Junglen, as well as making several other final tables and victories. His performance in 2007 placed him 14th in Cardplayer's Online Player of the Year rankings, a leaderboard that he still is competitive in for 2008. As of this writing, Jason is 24th in the OPOY all-time money list with nearly $800,000 in lifetime tournament cashes.

Although a student of the game to this day himself, Jason felt it was important to give to the communities that helped him launch his poker career. To share what he had learned, Jason founded a private video sharing community. Since its inception a few years ago, dozens of videos have been created for the exclusive benefit of his home forum. Now, an alliance having been made with PokerVT, Jason's years of experience - both as instructor and professional player - is proudly being brought beneath the PokerVT banner. Jason is excited to provide an even stronger, more frequent, diverse library of content to his new wide public audience at large for a long period to come.
